For Keeps’ Sake

The former Arsenal goalkeeper speaks publicly for the first time about a retirement she never announced, having discovered she had accidentally published the words retired professional athlete on LinkedIn. Written in her own voice, the piece traces a route from the 2019 NWSL draft through Iceland and two Danish titles with HB Koge to Arsenal, then a loan to Bristol City where she tore her ACL. Two further partial tears followed at Tampa Bay Sun, where she says she was thrown back too early and left to rehab alone after her contract was not extended. She describes antidepressants, a low point, and a decision to preserve her knee and move into medical-device sales.
