Fliss Gibbons profile: Gillingham Ladies and England U-19

She Kicks, issue SK20, April 2014 p.20

Kieran Theivam profiles Fliss Gibbons for the Road to Canada series. The England Under-19 midfielder rates her season about 7.5 out of 10, describing an unexpected move from Watford to Gillingham after which the Gills lost only two games and reached the last 16 of the FA Cup, where they drew Arsenal. Gibbons says leaving Watford was difficult and not a quick decision, taken after talking mainly to her father, with travel and other commitments making it unworkable, and that while the club were disappointed to miss out on WSL2 they are pushing on. She describes herself as a hard worker who has played various positions and prefers the wing, loved the Under-19 Euros in Wales despite being a squad player, studies PE and Sport at the University of Greenwich, and is nicknamed Max Branning at Gillingham because of her red hair.
