Two pages of Opta data set the finalists side by side on their WSL form going into Wembley, and the gap is stark. Manchester City had played eighteen, won thirteen, drawn five and lost none, scoring 51 and conceding 15, with 60.7 per cent possession and 80.7 per cent passing accuracy from 9,775 passes. West Ham United had won six of eighteen and lost ten, scoring 23 and conceding 32, with 48.5 per cent possession and 69.3 per cent accuracy from 6,551 passes. City had 582 touches in the opposition box to West Ham’s 296, and 352 shots to 189. West Ham made more clearances, 377 to 229, and faced 249 shots to City’s 202.
