#FIFAWWC2019! (Editor’s Letter)

Editor Jen O’Neill opens the post-tournament issue trying to name what a World Cup leaves behind: elated, gutted, proud, empty, hyped and totally exhausted, all at once. Assembling the issue from images and post-match quotes has been emotional, she writes, because feelings about events shift afterwards while a photograph fixes what might have been and what actually happened in a single instant. She admits to a long-standing anxiety, born of years when nobody else covered the game, that She Kicks must somehow carry everything in its few pages. This time the coverage was brilliant everywhere, so with players on holiday the magazine is holding its more detailed reflections until September and using this issue to celebrate a magical June and July.
