FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015: The Draw
She Kicks, issue 25, January 2015 pp.10–12
After an hour of Canadian pageantry at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa, complete with hoop dancers, Christine Sinclair and a six-foot dancing snowy owl called Shueme, the draw for Canada 2015 is made. Canada will open the tournament against China in Edmonton, John Herdman faces New Zealand, the side he led in 2011, and Group D pairs the United States with Sweden, Australia and Nigeria. England, drawn last, land in Group F with France, Mexico and Colombia. Mark Sampson calls the French incredibly talented and says it is time a long and unhappy history changed, while captain Steph Houghton argues England have challenged them enough to know they can win on their day. Host city guides to Moncton and Montreal follow, with the full match schedule.
