FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 Tournament Awards
She Kicks, issue 55, August 2019 p.30
A single-page record of the individual honours at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Megan Rapinoe took both the adidas Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player and the adidas Golden Boot as its leading scorer, finishing ahead of her own team-mate Alex Morgan on the Silver Boot by virtue of fewer minutes played. England’s Lucy Bronze took the Silver Ball and Rapinoe’s team-mate Rose Lavelle the Bronze Ball, while Ellen White’s six goals earned her the Bronze Boot. The Netherlands goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal, outstanding throughout and particularly in the final, was given the Golden Glove. Germany’s Giulia Gwinn won the FIFA Young Player Award. It is the clearest single summary of how France 2019 was judged.
