Female Students Get a Taste of a Career in Sport Media (UCFB and Sky Sports)
She Kicks, issue 41, May 2017 p.31
One hundred school girls went behind the scenes at Wembley Stadium for a Women in Sport Media day hosted by UCFB and Sky Sports, designed to show the range of jobs available in sport media and the women already doing them. Workshops covered television presenting in UCFB’s studio, running a social media campaign and interview technique, led by professionals including Fulham’s communications director Sarah Brookes, Sky Sports presenter Gemma Nash, QPR’s multimedia manager Andy Watkins and rugby world cup winner Maggie Alphonsi, who made herself the subject of a student-run interview and found the questioning genuinely challenging. Sky Sports social media journalist Brogan Kay-Jessop called the day rewarding. The event followed a government initiative on gender diversity and equality in sport media.
