Feds Finding Form (Channi Thompson interview)
She Kicks, issue 39, January 2017 p.40
Liverpool Marshalls Feds captain Channi Thompson describes a club formed in 1990 and still run by its founder members, where she has spent nine years and which she rates as being in its strongest year for coaching staff and players, with the development squad top of their league and the reserves third. A slow start with many new faces has become an eleven-game unbeaten run and a first round proper FA Cup win on penalties at Stoke City, a division above. Asked whether grassroots clubs get the recognition they deserve she says not: people write about teams carrying a professional club’s name while the Feds survive purely on players’ subs and fundraising. Promotion is the target for next season.
