FAWSL Interview: Laura Del Rio

An interview with Laura del Rio Garcia, the Madrid-born forward joining Bristol Academy after spells in the United States with FC Indiana, Boston Breakers and Philadelphia Independence and in Germany with Frankfurt. Del Rio says the American and German leagues each improved her, teaching her to be more physical and more technical respectively, and that the suspension of the WPS came as a shock to all the players. She had wanted to play in England for a long time and her agent worked to make it happen, with Bristol interested from the start. She rates the club’s facilities the best she has played at, lives with three team-mates, and is called ‘Spanish’ by Ann-Marie. She does not expect to play for Spain again after falling out with coach Ignacio Quereda.
