FAWPL Cup Final: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Cardiff City

She Kicks, issue 36, July 2016 p.39

Tottenham Hotspur edged Cardiff City two-one in the FA Women’s Premier League Cup final at Kidderminster Harriers on 8 May 2016. Bianca Baptiste gave Spurs the lead and Kelly Isaac levelled on half time. Cardiff lost goalkeeper Alesha McGlynn at the end of the first period of extra time and, having used all their substitutes, put Hannah Mills between the posts and finished with ten players. With penalties looming, Maya Vio turned in the winner. The result completes a cup thread the magazine had followed across four issues, from the quarter-finals through the semi-finals to a final that fell after the previous issue’s print deadline. The short report shares its page with an interview with Sporting Khalsa forward Kyrie Ball on her side’s great escape from the FAWPL Midlands Division 1 drop zone.
