Fans Gallery, January/February 2020

A single-page gallery saluting supporters rather than players, drawn from January and February 2020 across the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and the Championship. It is the last fans gallery She Kicks published before the season stopped, which gives an otherwise routine page a documentary value it did not have at the time: children in club colours, flags, scarves, homemade banners and the queues and concourses of grounds that would be empty within weeks. Nobody in the gallery is named; the page’s only words salute ‘the stars off the field’ and ask readers to spot anyone they know. The credit reads only that the images come from various photographers for The FA. The page shares its spread with the They Kick feature, in which the Manchester City Women Official Supporters Club describe their away travel, their flags and drum, and their sponsorship of Tameside United Girls Under-11s.
