Fan Vox Pops: Continental Cup Final

She Kicks stopped supporters at the 2011 Continental Cup Final and asked each of them two questions: name your favourite player, and your player of the season. Seven fans answer, ranging from 13-year-old Alex Friskney to 75-year-old Birmingham City supporter Kenny Sewell, and including 72-year-old Arsenal regular Maria Petri, Taiwo Ogunlabi, Louise Fry, Lynne Hughes and Leigh-Anne French, a goalkeeper with the Teesside Sport centre of excellence under-17s. Arsenal goalkeeper Emma Byrne emerges as the fans’ favourite, described by one supporter as the best in Europe and as the team’s female David Seaman. Rachel Yankey, Karen Carney and Rachel Williams are also named, Williams praised for her switch from midfield to forward, while Steph Houghton, Jordan Nobbs, Kim Little and Gilly Flaherty are picked out as players of the season.
