FA WSL Preview: Lindsay Johnson, Everton Ladies

A Super League preview with Everton’s England centre back Lindsay Johnson, known to the Goodison faithful as lightning for her pace and, after eight years, one of the club’s old guard. She relishes an opening fixture against Liverpool, her old club and a local derby, wants Everton to win a league Mo Marley has built towards for years, and admits she also wants a World Cup squad place. Johnson welcomes a six-week block of three or four sessions a week, a big change from the one or two the squad used to manage together, and jokes that elaborate goal celebrations are unlikely since she does not score. She reports that Everton run out to the Z Cars theme at the Halton Stadium, that Danielle Hill has taken over DJ duties from Jill Scott, and explains her nicknames Johnno and, at home, Milly.
