FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup Final 2015: Arsenal 2-0 Notts County
She Kicks, issue 32, January 2016 p.25
Arsenal claim a fourth Continental Cup crown in five years, beating Notts County 2-0 at Rotherham United in front of 5,028, through two Jordan Nobbs strikes and the controversial sending off of the Lady Pies’ captain Laura Bassett. Nobbs put the Gunners ahead with a strong run and finish before Bassett saw red for a foul on Vicky Losada, a challenge many observers felt did not warrant such a punishment. There was little sympathy from Nobbs, who fired in a second superb strike from distance to seal the win. Notts fought on bravely and created a number of chances, but Arsenal’s controlled performance secured the silverware and a happy end to a season in which they had otherwise finished third in the league.
