FA WSL 2012 Transfers
She Kicks, issue SK07, April 2012 p.14
A club-by-club guide to the first FA WSL transfer window of 2012, which ran from 20 January to 12 April, with a second window to follow in July and August. Arsenal took the headlines by welcoming home Kelly Smith and Alex Scott after the WPS suspension, alongside Gemma Davison from Western New York Flash, while Birmingham City had already agreed to bring back Eniola Aluko and added Rachel Unitt and Becky Spencer. Doncaster Rovers Belles were the busiest club with seven signings and eleven departures, among them Sue Smith and Republic of Ireland winger Julie-Ann Russell, whom manager John Buckley praises for her left foot. Everton had the quietest window but promoted Alex Greenwood and Nikita Parris from the reserves. Bristol Academy signed Laura Del Rio and Natasha Harding.
