FA WSL 1 & 2 Gallery, 23-28 March 2016
She Kicks, issue 34, April 2016 pp.34–35
A double-page photographic gallery covering the opening week of the 2016 FA WSL 1 and 2 seasons, from 23 to 28 March. The images are captioned only with hashtags rather than names, in the informal style the magazine used for its picture spreads: #ONMEHEAD, #SCRAMBLE, #MERRICKSTRIKES, #IT’SBEHINDYOU, #SHESTARTEDIT and #KEEPERSBALL on the first page, then #ONEVONE, #WEALLFALLDOWN, #EXCITED, #GASSING and #ATFULLSTRETCH on the second – a header, a goalmouth scramble, a strike, a goalkeeper claiming the ball, a one-against-one, players falling, and celebration. No player is identified by name anywhere on the spread, the hashtags doing the work of captions and leaving the reader to recognise the faces from the season’s first week. Photographs are credited to FA via Getty Images, and the pages are headed FA WSL 1 and 2 Gallery.
