FA Women’s Football Awards 2013
She Kicks, issue SK18, December 2013 p.8
Catherine Etoe quizzes the winners at the FA Women’s Football Awards, held at The Brewery in the City of London and hosted by Jacqui Oatley, honouring both the achievers of 2013 and some of the greats who blazed the trail. Liverpool’s Matt Beard, named FA WSL Manager of the Year, says he is most pleased for Natasha Dowie and admits recruitment was the hardest task after two seasons at the bottom. Mick Mulhern, Premier League National Division Manager of the Year, insists the award follows his players’ success and praises top scorer Beth Mead. Mark Sampson, whose Bristol Academy were Club of the Year, declines to be drawn on the England job. Dowie, Players’ Player and top scorer, is humbled. Volunteer Dawn Barnard takes the Special Achievement Award. Alex Scott and Gill Coultard receive golden caps.
