FA Women’s Cup Final Preview — Meet the Blues (Birmingham City)

Birmingham City captain Laura Bassett, tweeting as digiBass, introduces her squad ahead of the FA Women’s Cup Final against Chelsea, giving every player a hashtag nickname and a short character sketch alongside an assessment of their game. Goalkeeper Marie Hourihan is #Miranda, an accountant who was a twelve-pound newborn; Eniola Aluko is #Brains, back for a second spell and arriving on matchdays with the biggest suitcase; Karen Carney is #Badhairday, the matchday announcer’s pride of the Midlands; and Rachel Williams is #Joker, a full-time plasterer who should be a stand-up comedian. Kerys Harrop is club captain at 21 in an eleventh consecutive season, Jade Moore is vice-captain, and Rachel Unitt is #Delboy. Manager David Parker, assistant Derek Kodua and football consultant Marcus Bignot are profiled too.
