FA Awards 2017: Who Got What?
She Kicks, issue 44, November 2017 pp.12–14
The FA’s annual awards night at the Grosvenor House Hotel produces a full roll-call from the England squad down to grassroots, and She Kicks prints the lot alongside the winners’ own reactions. Jodie Taylor takes England Player of the Year and admits she never expected it; seventeen-year-old Lauren Hemp collects Young Player surrounded by people she looks up to. Jordan Nobbs wins both the Spring Series players’ vote and goal of the season. Everton’s Andy Spence dedicates his to his recently bereaved grandfather. Tottenham’s assistant general manager accepts Club of the Year as the last piece of a jigsaw begun when their chairman died in 2015, and Dick Kerr Ladies’ biographer, collecting a special award, says the team of the century has been buried and forgotten for too long.
