England U-17 UEFA Euro 3rd Place Play-Off vs Italy (photo)

A full-page photograph carrying the hashtag #YoungLionesses, showing England in a penalty shoot-out against Italy in the third-place play-off at the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship. The image is credited to FA via Getty Images and runs across the full page without accompanying article text, the only wording being the caption itself, which names neither the players pictured nor the outcome of the shoot-out. The editor’s letter elsewhere in this issue captions the same defeat, recording that England lost on penalties and that the battling Under-17 side thereby missed out on World Cup qualification against Italy. Further frames from the same fixture appear in the issue’s Snapshots pages, where Lucy Porter and Molly Rouse are identified.
