She Kicks, issue 30, October 2015 p.29
A gallery and report on the England Legends charity match of 9 August 2015, in which an 18-strong squad of former England players with almost 300 caps between them faced FA WPL champions Sheffield FC Ladies at Stratford Town FC in the inaugural FA WPL Charity Trophy, supporting FA charity partner Breast Cancer Care. The match marked the twentieth anniversary of England Women reaching their first World Cup finals in 1995 and celebrated the Lionesses’ achievements in Canada. Sheffield, who two months earlier had beaten Portsmouth to win promotion to the WSL, provided an almost full-strength side. Howard Webb MBE and FIFA official Lucy Oliver led the officials. FA WPL Chairman Carol West called it a success on many levels and a reminder of former players’ contribution.
