#ENGARG: England 1-0 Argentina

She Kicks, issue 55, August 2019 p.18

England’s second Group D match, against Argentina in Le Havre on 14 June 2019, was won by a single goal and might have been more comfortable. She Kicks records that the 35-year-old Argentina goalkeeper Vanina Correa had, in the magazine’s word, a worldy, and among her saves was a penalty from Nikita Parris. The breakthrough came instead from Jodie Taylor, who pounced to turn in a pass from Beth Mead. The result was enough to put England on six points and effectively through with a game in hand, though the performance left the questions about their attacking rhythm that would follow them into the knockout rounds. Argentina, on their return to the finals after twelve years, again showed the resilience that marked their campaign.
