She Kicks, issue 37, September 2016 p.38
The 2016-17 FA Women’s Premier League season began with a bang. Newly promoted Middlesbrough beat reigning Northern champions West Brom six-nil, and over 300 watched AFC Fylde win four-nil against a Leicester City Women side that had won every game in the division below. Lewes are the early Southern leaders after an incredible seven-two win over West Ham having trailed two-nil, while Crystal Palace’s first game at the level ended in a draw with Coventry, who twice came from behind. AFC Wimbledon’s introduction to South East Division 1 brought a seven-goal thriller with Ipswich, and Brislington’s first South West game was a creditable two-all with Southampton Saints.
