A dated listing of the fixtures and draws for the autumn of 2020, published while the calendar was still being rebuilt around the pandemic. It opens with the delayed 2019-20 Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-finals on 30 September and 1 October and closes with the second legs of the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 32 in mid-November. In between come the Continental Cup group stage, the Champions League qualifying round, the Scottish leagues kicking off on 18 October, and a dense run of Euro 2022 qualifiers involving Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The delayed FA Cup final is set for 1 November at Wembley, with the following season’s third qualifying round on the very same day – a piece of scheduling that captures the compression of that autumn better than any prose could.
