Decision Time (Jordan Nobbs)

She Kicks, issue 2, April 2010 p.32

A feature on Sunderland’s 17-year-old midfielder Jordan Nobbs, facing a summer of promise and decisions. Her full scholarship at the FA’s National Player Development Centre at Loughborough is likely to end as the programme winds down, so she must choose where to continue the second year of her Btec, and where to play. Nobbs, who captained England’s Under-17s at 15 at the World Cup in New Zealand and scored a long-range goal against Sweden in the Under-19 European Championship win in Belarus, says the National Division has been ten times harder than the Northern, calls Sunderland’s Super League rejection frustrating, and admits one or two Super League clubs are interested. She looks ahead to the Under-19 Euros in Macedonia and the Under-20 World Cup in Germany, praises a squad with no cliques, and describes her father Keith’s forensic scrutiny. Manager Mick Mulhen predicts she will captain England.
