Daly Determination (Rachel Daly interview)

Interviewed in the Florida sunshine during England’s SheBelieves Cup win, Rachel Daly talks about a career built on versatility she says has been used rather than abused. Cut at the final hurdle before Euro 2017, she learned by email in a hotel on a Houston away trip and had a game the same day. She describes Phil Neville texting three or four times a week through the NWSL off-season, being the fittest she has been, and enjoying England for the first time. The interview’s most striking passage is her account of signing a pre-contract with Lyon and not going: something in the pit of her stomach did not feel right, and Neville told her he did not care where or in what position she played as long as she was happy. She is three or four months from a Green Card.
