Cyprus Cup 2015: What They Said
She Kicks, issue 27, April 2015 pp.8–10
A Lianne Sanderson goal beats Canada in the final and secures England a third Cyprus Cup, after they topped their group by beating Finland, thrashing Australia 3-0 with a Jodie Taylor hat-trick and drawing with the Netherlands through an Eniola Aluko solo effort. Aluko describes picking the ball up wanting only to release a pass, finding herself in the box and seeing the top corner open up, then being too exhausted to celebrate. Jordan Nobbs calls captaining England and lifting the trophy a dream come true. Amy Turner, called up from work as cover for the injured Casey Stoney, recounts being told to get her sun cream out. Claire Rafferty returns after a third ACL injury, and Kim Little’s hat-trick makes her tournament top scorer.
