Cup Winning Cyncoed: Michael Hodge interview (South Wales League)

An interview with Cyncoed coach Michael Hodge after his side won the South Wales League cup and finished runners-up in the league. Hodge calls the cup win a magnificent moment, saying the players’ emotions at the final whistle brought home how special it was and that he was shaking for a full half hour afterwards, and notes they beat eventual league winners Cwmbran in the semi-final. He recounts researching how the Welsh national set-up identified players before emailing the FAW to highlight Ffion Price’s drive, determination and technical ability, and the phone call telling her she had been selected for a trip to Lithuania, where she was named player of the match against Latvia. Hodge says the league is getting younger, stronger and more competitive, and praises clubs for using 3G pitches through the storms.
