She Kicks, issue 42, July 2017 pp.52–53

Manchester City finally took the Women’s FA Cup at Wembley, beating Birmingham 4-1 with three goals in fourteen first-half minutes from Lucy Bronze, Izzy Christiansen and Carli Lloyd, Charlie Wellings pulling one back before Jill Scott settled it late. Bronze, whose only previous final came eight years earlier for Sunderland when she was the kid marking Rachel Yankey, reflects on how far the game has moved since. Steph Houghton, in a fourth final and a first for City, notes a crowd above thirty-five thousand and says the club has now won every domestic trophy. Lloyd describes the rehearsed Megan Campbell corner she screamed for and attacked. Jess Carter is unrepentant in defeat: no fear of City, no question of respect, simply the better team on the day.
