Copper Loada That

A Group C interview with the Zambia forward, fresh from a 25-goal Liga F season for Madrid CFF that included both goals in the 2-1 win over Barcelona which ended the European champions’ 64-game unbeaten league run. Kundananji sets Zambia’s target as getting out of the group, and describes a squad that sings and dances loudly on the team bus before every match. She recalls a childhood in which her mother provided but football did not: no girls’ team, balls made from plastic, games with male friends, and a first club with two or three footballs between them. She says she competes with herself rather than others, and that Zambian football needs sponsorship above all else.
