Column — Rachel Brown-Finnis: World Cup Here We Come!
She Kicks, issue SK18, December 2013 p.6
Rachel Brown-Finnis’s second She Kicks column, written after playing in the Canada 2015 World Cup qualifiers. She reports beating Wales 2-0 at Millwall and then Turkey 4-0 away to top the group, noting with a goalkeeper’s pride that England scored twenty goals and conceded none. Back in the UK she swapped the gloves for a dress to attend the North West Football Awards with UCFB, where she is Sports Industry Liaison and Ambassador; the university sponsored one award and was shortlisted for another, and she caught up with her Everton team-mate Toni Duggan, who won Women’s Player of the Year. She looks ahead to the FA Awards marking 150 years of the men’s game and twenty of women’s football, where at eighteen years she expects to be the longest-standing player present.
