Coach Kicks: James Marrs

She Kicks, issue 25, January 2015 p.40

Brighton and Hove Albion Ladies manager James Marrs, who holds the UEFA B and Youth Module 2, answers the magazine’s recurring coach questionnaire. He does not single out one coach to admire, preferring to watch and learn from all, though if pressed he picks Mourinho, and he values watching other coaches deliver sessions above any one manual or website. His favoured quote is that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. Marrs wants players with a fantastic attitude, work rate and desire to improve, and likes delivering high-intensity sessions related to game incidents. He rarely joins in, believing training belongs to the players, though a staff team entered a recent three-a-side tournament. He admits to the distinctive smell of coaching equipment carried in a car.
