Coach Kicks: Colin Bell
She Kicks, issue 32, January 2016 p.52
Colin Bell answers the magazine’s recurring coach questionnaire. His favourite session is shooting, though more than just shooting: build-up play, attacking set plays and working through a defensive team. He names Jess Fishlock as the player who made the biggest impression and the most complete he has worked with, calling her his right-hand player on the pitch, and rates Frankfurt defender Peggy Kuznik very underrated. His motivational line is that he never loses, he either wins or learns, and his most repeated phrase in Germany was that soccer is a result sport. Admiring Bill Shankly as a child and later Malcolm Allison and Brian Clough, he advises aspiring coaches to get the knowledge because players look for it, and to keep reflecting and reinventing themselves.
