Clark Eyes Top Six (Nicole Clark interview)

Hutchison Vale defender Nicole Clark, 28, believes her side can secure top-flight status and a top-six finish despite ninth-place finishes in each of the last two seasons that would now mean relegation. A varied fitness regime has made the squad stronger and fitter and the results are showing. She welcomes the reduction to an eight-team league as a positive change and an exciting challenge, arguing that Scottish women’s football needs to raise its profile and that producing another Scottish side to compete in Europe would be a fantastic opportunity. None of the players feel under pressure, she insists, after positive changes at the club. She also welcomes Hutchie’s announcement that it will pay players’ expenses, calling it recognition of their commitment and a path she hopes others follow.
