City Expect the Nadia Effect (Nadia Nadim signs for Manchester City)

Eight weeks after scoring in a Euro final her side lost 4-2 to the hosts, Nadia Nadim agreed to join Manchester City in January from the newly crowned NWSL champions Portland Thorns. She is unrestrained about it: she is pumped to be part of a club whose ambition to win everything matches her own, and intends to come and kill it. The Champions League is a specific draw – she played in it for Fortuna Hjorring, whom City eliminated the previous season – and she calls the fit a match made in heaven. She arrives on form, six goals in thirteen starts for a title-winning Portland side, and having in 2016 become the first player to score a hat-trick for two different NWSL clubs.
