Chester Challenging City Rivals (Charlotte Costello interview)
She Kicks, issue 33, February 2016 p.40
Chester FC Women were assembled in the summer of 2015 after detailed work on the finances of running an open-age team, led by Chester FC Community Trust and its chief executive Jon McCarthy. Charlotte Costello describes a slow start caused by an extremely short pre-season while a whole squad was recruited, and a side now sitting in the top five of the Cheshire League and exceeding expectations. The high was a six-two win over Vauxhall Motors; the low, leading Stockport County, going five-two down, pulling back to five-five in the eighty-ninth minute and conceding in the ninety-third. Her long-term ambition is a child buying a replica shirt with Phoebe Graham’s or Chloe Johnson’s name on the back.
