She Kicks, issue 61, June 2020 p.6

A dedicated page on the FA’s decision to end the 2019-20 Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship seasons. The FA declared the top two tiers over on 25 May; eleven days later a follow-up explained that the FA Board had reached a majority decision to settle both divisions on a basic points-per-game basis, with promotion and relegation determined on sporting merit. Aston Villa took the Championship and promotion with Liverpool relegated in their place, while Chelsea and Manchester City were nominated for the 2020-21 Champions League. Emma Hayes and Gemma Davies are quoted, the final points-per-game tables printed, and top scorers listed alongside a note that the Women’s FA Cup remained under review.
