Chapman Calls Time on her Incredible Career (Katie Chapman interview)

Katie Chapman lifted the FA Women’s Cup and League Cup with Millwall at fourteen and retires twenty-two years later with ninety-four caps, thirty major domestic titles and a European trophy. She has no interest in being called the killer piece of any jigsaw: Hope Powell once told her she does the unglamorous work so others shine, and she is content with that because she is a winner. The Arsenal Quadruple of 2007 is her best memory. She is candid that a five-year England absence from 2010 followed the cancellation of her central contract when she asked for time with her children, and that she is sad to have missed a hundred caps. Her ten-year-old wants her to play until forty; she would rather watch him.
