Championship Fast Fives: Kayla Rendell

Southampton’s first Championship season ended sixth with only champions Bristol City conceding fewer than their fifteen, and Kayla Rendell kept ten clean sheets in twenty-two games behind that record. The goalkeeper, who won the club’s Goal of the Season award for an extra-time FA Cup header against Ipswich, has also begun getting minutes in England Under-23 camps. She names distribution as her strength, the extra outfield player in possession, playing through or over a press. She is proud of the number one shirt at a club that means a lot to her, praises goalkeeping coach Will Britt and the union around him, and reveals she sits third fastest over five metres in end-of-season testing. Away from football there are two Labradors and long walks.
