Celebration Police
She Kicks, issue 83, March 2024 p.62
The ‘Kicks & Giggles’ page’s Celebration Police feature invites readers to identify five real players caught mid-celebration, spoofing the online ‘celebration police’ phenomenon usually aimed at men’s football and its catchphrase that a side ‘celebrated like they’d won the league’. The answers reveal England’s Ella Toone, Tottenham’s Ashleigh Neville, Australia’s Sam Kerr, Manchester City’s Chloe Kelly and Chelsea’s Lauren James as the five joyous culprits pictured, in photographs by Sports Press Photo’s Daniela Porcelli, Liam Asman, Ane Frosaker, Natalie Mincher and Claire Jeffrey. The same page carries a Spot the Difference puzzle built from Tottenham’s historic first WSL win over local rivals Arsenal in December 2023 – Martha Thomas’ matchwinner in front of 19,480 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Robert Vilahamn – with ten alterations to find, from a missing letter in the shirt sponsor to a small dog.
