Casa De Cazza (Caroline Weir Interview)
She Kicks, issue 77, February 2023 pp.10–15
Six pages with the Scotland midfielder in her first season at Real Madrid, a club whose white shirt she wore as a child in Dunfermline. Weir describes a house outside the centre with a pool and her dog, an English-speaking group of teammates she gravitated to, and Spanish lessons she is making slow progress with. The football has changed too: less structure than at Manchester City, a number ten’s licence to play what she sees, and games that open up after an hour once organised opponents tire. She is generous about City, having knocked them out in a Champions League qualifier and scored, and misses Jill Scott’s daily good vibes. The best passage corrects a myth: no Astro pitch in the garden, just a wooden board her dad painted a goal on.
