Captain’s Chat: Amy Jenkins

Aberystwyth Town captain Amy Jenkins discusses leading her hometown club after 11 years with the Seasiders, having been named full-time skipper this summer. The striker reflects on captaining the side to January’s Genero Adran Trophy semi-final and scoring shortly after the death of her father, former Aber Town coach Kevin ‘Bones’ Jenkins, in an emotional win over Wrexham. Jenkins discusses her open, supportive leadership style, leaning on predecessor Kelly Thomas for advice, and sharing the armband’s post-match care with vice-captain Rebecca Mathias. She also reveals a family rivalry with Penrhyn-coch, the local club her father and brother represented, and admits to being her own harshest critic as she tries to balance leading the team with focusing on her own game.
