Captain Corsie (Rachel Corsie interview)

Rachel Corsie took the call from Shelley Kerr in Seattle after a comedy of missed calls and time differences, and had to sit on the news for a fortnight. She succeeds a captain in Gemma Fay who left, she says, a huge legacy on the pitch and behind the scenes, and shares the leadership with a vice captain, Kim Little, who happened to be visiting her in Seattle when the calls came. Two qualifying wins in, she rates the football played in a narrow victory in Belarus above the 5-0 against Albania, and insists Scotland are at the beginning rather than the finished article. She notes the First Minister, the team’s patron, has told them she has never seen them win, and that they intend to fix it.
