England beat Spain 6-1 in the bronze medal match at the fourth European Deaf Futsal Championship in Sofia, sealing a place at the following year’s World Championship in Thailand. The team opened with a crushing 16-0 win over Turkey, then beat Hungary and Denmark before overcoming Belgium in the quarter-finals and losing an extraordinary semi-final to Germany, scoring five and conceding seven. Danielle Evans took the golden boot with fourteen goals and admits her disappointment at not reaching the final after leading 5-0 in the semi, while rating third place from a sixth-ranked side an amazing achievement.
