Brighton Ambition

Brighton and Hove Albion Women have come a long way from the Brighton GPO team formed by Post Office workers at the telephone exchange in 1967. They linked with the men’s club in 1990 before joining the inaugural National League in 1991, and now compete in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division. An application to join the expanded Super League for 2014 was unsuccessful, and an exodus of players to WSL clubs followed, but the club remains ambitious. Since elite women and girls’ football manager Tracy Doe arrived in June 2013 the women’s side has been fully integrated into the men’s set-up, moving in July 2014 to the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, whose sixteen pitches and shared Y-shaped building house academy, women and girls and men’s first-team players.
