A single page on one of the season’s more improbable title charges. Spartans returned to the ScottishPower SWPL at the first attempt, a year after relegation, having trailed leaders Kilmarnock by 15 points with 11 games of the SWPL2 season remaining. Twelve wins and a draw from their final 13 matches turned it around, and Jack Beesley’s Edinburgh side finished two points clear at the top. It still came down to the last day: a point behind Killie and at home to Dundee United, Spartans needed second-half goals from Natalie Bandura and Izzy Young for a 2-0 win. Their rivals lost by the same scoreline at Queen’s Park, and the job was done.
