Born Kicking

The magazine’s regular young-player slot profiles two seventeen-year-olds through a fixed questionnaire. Louise Ann Jackson plays centre back for Gillingham Ladies, supports Arsenal, describes herself as strong, determined and enthusiastic, and would most like to line up alongside Faye White. She remembers a centre of excellence goalkeeper refusing to play until the referee had shooed away a bee, feels she plays better in the number four shirt, and names her father as her biggest fan. Annabel Johnson is a full back with Leicester City who supports Leeds United and prefers full back to centre back for the freedom to join the attack. She recalls an under-14 tour to France that ended in a mini pitch brawl, and would pick Messi as a team-mate. Both name David Beckham as the player they would most like to meet.
