Born Kicking: Mia Smith
She Kicks, issue 81, October 2023 p.61
The youth Q&A meets an 11-year-old who completed 100 kilometres in August, raising £430 for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Smith plays for three clubs, tending to line up in defence or more recently defensive midfield, is a Manchester City season-ticket holder and also follows her hometown side Rugby Borough. She has already met Hayley Raso and Chloe Kelly, both of whom she names among her heroes alongside Ashleigh Plumptre and Ruby Mace, and would like to meet Kelly Smith. Her pre-match ritual involves an espresso and her own playlists, her favourite skill is the step over, and her best advice is that making an effort to win matters more than winning.
