Born Kicking: Keira Ferns and Katie McClean

Keira Mae Ferns, ten, and Katie Margaret McClean, eleven, both play for the Essex County Trophy-winning St John Fisher School girls’ Under-11 team, but for different clubs – Keira for Spurs Ladies Under-11s and Katie for West Ham Girls Under-12s – and remain best friends. Keira supports Chelsea’s men and women and Spurs Ladies seconds, prefers left wing but mostly plays in defence, and would most like to meet Lionel Messi while choosing Fran Kirby as a team-mate. Katie supports West Ham, plays central defence because she likes keeping clean sheets, would most like to meet Fran Kirby and play alongside Jill Scott, and would like to be managed by Jurgen Klopp.
