Born Kicking: Kassidey Wilson
She Kicks, issue 85, July 2024 pp.60–61
The latest instalment of She Kicks’ youth Q&A series features 11-year-old Kassidey Wilson from Morpeth, who plays for two Cramlington United Girls U11 sides as well as representative football with the Newcastle United and Sunderland foundations. A committed Newcastle United fan and winger, Wilson names Lucy Bronze and Alessia Russo as her footballing heroes and dreams of one day pulling on Newcastle United Women’s black and white. She shares her superstition of putting her right boot on first, her love of a post-match Aero bar (just about beating a McDonald’s), and a memorable breakdown that saw her school team turn up to a match on a hired party bus. Wilson also offers advice to any girl nervous about starting football: just get out there and try.
